The short answer is: YES
You’ve lived life lucky not to have suffered emergencies. You are young, you are seemingly invincible and nothing is going to keep you from the romantic getaway or honeymoon planned for 8 months from now. Airline tickets are purchased, the hotel committed, and nothing is going to stop this from happening…until something does. No one thinks it will happen to them and when it does, it is devastating for all involved, including all of us at Bucuti & Tara. We are a small, owner-managed business and our guests, many of them returning for 5, 10, even 20 times - become family. We care about you. The last thing we want to do is punish further with penalties at the time of crisis. We purposely ‘over-inform’ all of our guests during every phase of reserving our resort to protect themselves and purchase travel and cancellation insurance for this very reason.
Why is our policy so strict? We work very hard to provide a quality experience for our guests. As an independently owned and operated resort, we must plan carefully and reinvest wisely, so we always present a fresh, updated resort to all of our customers. We do not have the wieght and resources of our larger chain-hotel colleagues in Aruba who have more flexibility. With increasing costs and government taxes, to protect our business and employees in our business, it is not possible to turn down business to hold a room for guests who ultimately do not come, no matter what the circumstances. A room night lost is not recoverable - it is perishable, and cannot be resold - and we incur the same costs whether guests appear or not. Emergencies happen more frequently than you may think and a few years ago we were forced to change to a more strict policy for the health of our business. The lack of our strict policies would mean that we would not have the means to maintain our facility to the quality standards that you deserve as our guests.
