At Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort, we believe our greatest asset is our team, and the world is taking notice! We're thrilled to share that Bucuti & Tara recently received the prestigious 2024 Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA) CHIEF Award for People Development and Support. This recognition highlights our commitment to our team’s well-being and professional growth. Additionally, we earned first-place finalist honors in the Social Responsibility category for our impactful community and environmental initiatives.
Here’s a closer look at what makes Bucuti & Tara’s culture and commitment to excellence truly special.
As one of the world’s top hotels—thanks to your glowing reviews on TripAdvisor, Condé Nast Traveler, and Travel + Leisure—we understand that a remarkable guest experience begins with a happy, supported team. Here’s how we make it happen:
Inclusivity and equity. Bucuti & Tara has been a progressive employer since day one, providing equal opportunities to all, including leadership roles for women and an LGBTQ+-friendly workplace. Ongoing training in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion ensures a welcoming environment for everyone.
Outstanding benefits. Our team enjoys above-average pay of a subsistence pay based on a family of four, which far exceeds minimum wage. They also have access to extensive healthcare coverage (including gender-specific and preventative care), child care subsidies, gym memberships, professional development programs, store discounts, and much more. We even offer low-interest loans and green loans for sustainable purchases.
Long-term growth. With high staff retention and opportunities for career development, more than 60% of this year’s staff service honorees have been with us for 10+ years—a testament to our supportive workplace culture.
By investing in our associates, we empower them to deliver the exceptional service and warm hospitality that you experience during your stay.
In the CHIEF Award category for Social Responsibility, Bucuti & Tara is honored to be named the first-place finalist. Our commitment to Aruba goes far beyond creating unforgettable vacations. As the Caribbean’s only certified carbon-neutral hotel and soon-to-be Net Zero, we strive to make a positive impact on our island home. Amongst our longstanding, continuous social responsibility initiatives, this year, CHTA CHIEF highlighted these life-changing resort programs for making a difference in Aruba:
Protecting Pets. Through our Stimami Sterilisami program, we’ve spayed or neutered more than 37,000 pets, tackling pet overpopulation humanely and effectively. This initiative, founded and majorly funded by Bucuti & Tara, collaborates with island veterinarians and has gained support from additional island entities.
Preserving Nature. The Bucuti Tara - GMC Nature Preserve, a gift to future generations, protects 32 acres/13 hectares of land while supporting reforestation efforts. So far, over 750 trees have been planted, with more on the way as staff, guests and the community routinely join together to help plant indigenous trees. When the park is completely reforested, more than 15,000 trees will help draw down 375 tons of CO2 emissions from the atmosphere. This carbon sink is already providing a place to enjoy nature for people, is reawakening fragile eco-systems and already starting to draw down emissions in combating climate change.
By blending sustainability with social responsibility, we ensure that Aruba remains a paradise for generations to come.
At this year’s CHTA CHIEF Forum, Bucuti & Tara’s Chief Corporate Officer, Crescenzia Biemans, shared insights into our award-winning social media strategy. By highlighting authentic Aruban culture, personal connections between our team and guests, and our core values of romance, wellness, and sustainability, our social channels reflect the heart of Bucuti & Tara.
We’re honored to be recognized for our dedication to our people, community, and planet. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a returning guest, you are part of the Bucuti & Tara family—and together, we’re creating a better tomorrow.
