The third Aruba Art Fair took place recently, celebrating the work of more than 200 local and international artists and artisans. Over 25,000 visitors have enjoyed the fair over the past three years and Aruba is quickly being recognized as a destination to enjoy and to collect fine Caribbean art.
Magnificent street murals, mosaics, photography, painting, fashion, and other genres can be enjoyed during the Art Fair in San Nicolas and galleries, shops and the murals are accessible to visitors all year. We wholeheartedly recommend a visit to this ‘Sunrise City’ to experience its inspirational glow.
The mural shown is called “Alice” and was painted by renown Portuguese artist Sergio Odeith in 2017. “Alice” is a larger than life Aruban matriarch of the arts and artists. A librarian by trade, Alice van Romondt’s career has been motivated by the desire to serve her community and that she has, with great dignity and influence. Among her many roles, Alice served as the Secretary of Aruba’s first Council of Ministers and her dedication to arts and education earned her recognition by the Queen of the Netherlands with a coveted
“Zilveren Anjer” or Silver Carnation. A local journalist voiced her admiration for Alice and her image : “
This beautiful mural does her justice, reflecting her joy of life.”
“Alice” and 20 other murals can be seen within a 4 block radius in San Nicolas and are well worth a visit. See our concierge team for a map and more information.
