Together for Nature as Bucuti & Tara Guests and Staff Unite to Keep Aruba Beautiful

Together for Nature as Bucuti & Tara Guests and Staff Unite to Keep Aruba Beautiful

At Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort, sustainability is so entrenched throughout the culture, operations and experience, that guests need only to opt for a vacation here that is as healthy for them as it is the Aruba community and our shared planet. As the Caribbean’s first and only certified carbon-neutral hotel and with an active commitment to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, we’re committed to preserving the natural beauty of our island paradise, and you're always invited to join us in making a meaningful difference.

From our monthly Eagle Beach cleanups, most recently on Nov. 20, to joining Aruba’s annual Mi Bario Limpi campaign, which just took place on Nov. 9, we’re working together—staff, guests, and community—to keep Aruba’s shores pristine and its landscapes thriving.

Monthly Beach Cleanups: More Than Picking Up Trash

For more than 32 years, Bucuti & Tara has hosted monthly beach cleanups, inviting our eco-conscious guests to join forces with our dedicated staff. Every third Wednesday, we roll up our sleeves to remove litter from Eagle Beach, helping protect the delicate ecosystems on land and at sea that make Aruba so special.

Together, we remove more than 1,000 lbs. of debris annually, ensuring that Aruba’s coastline remains one of the most beautiful in the world with its powdery white sand beaches and turquoise-clear waters. For guests, it’s a chance to connect with the local community, bond with our team and leave the island even better than they found it. Many tell us these regenerative travel experiences inspire them to adopt sustainable habits back home.

Want to join us? Anyone—guests, locals, and organizations—is welcome. Sign up by emailing sustainability@bucuti.com. Together, we can make a lasting impact.

Mi Bario Limpi: Cleaning and Reforesting Aruba

This Nov. 9, Bucuti & Tara joined Aruba’s island-wide Mi Bario Limpi campaign, which unites neighborhoods to tackle litter and pollution. With our partner, Ban Lanta y Planta, 32 volunteers focused on restoring The Bucuti Tara-GMC Nature Preserve, a 32-acre/13-hectare haven of serenity that is forever protected in the bustling Noord district.

This nature preserve, gifted by the resort, Owner/CEO Ewald Biemans and island friend Greta Marie Case to Aruba in autumn 2022, faced challenges from illegal dumping over the years. During Mi Bario Limpi, our team cleared away debris and began restoring this special sanctuary, which is home to indigenous flora and fauna and a vital part of Aruba’s natural heritage. In fact, guests can also get up close and discover depths of Aruba’s natural treasures with our wildlife and nature tour exclusively available to Bucuti & Tara guests.

A Legacy of Care

At Bucuti & Tara, our mission is simple but powerful: keep Aruba beautiful. Whether we’re leading monthly beach cleanups or contributing to larger efforts like Mi Bario Limpi, we’re taking action to preserve Aruba’s stunning environment for future generations.

Guests and staff alike are proud to be part of this movement. Together, we’re not just enjoying Aruba’s natural beauty—we’re protecting it, ensuring that our island remains a cherished destination for years to come.

You’re invited to join in these and any other Bucuti & Tara sustainability initiatives such as Pack for a Purpose. When you lend a hand, you become a part of the resort’s legacy of care. Let’s keep Aruba clean, green and thriving—together!
